windows 8 update probs

strange goings on ,first office 2007 kept installing whatever program i used forgetting it installed it last time despite being told initially to run everything from my computer ,on trying a reinstall it now cannot and gives a 1395 error!

now windows update is refusing to install anything ,it goes through the process reboots comes up with the installing update spiel ,then reports its failed and resets ,on trying to install seperate updates the results the same.

i ran the windows update "fix it" which reported problems and said it fixed them but all it did was make the installed updates field blank so running windows update took a long time as it looked through the pc looking for what was installed then found the exact same updates were missing and repeated the process (several times today)

so heres what its not installing

theres talk on the web it maybe a .net problem ,i ran a .net removal tool that trundled about my hard drive for half an hour but it appears to have done nothing ,i have downloaded .net 4.5 but it states its not needed its installed thus i am certain it did nothing, heeeeelp plelease

i tried the microsoft option of trying to repair the .net installation but for some reason i cannot find the option of doing it ,my metro desktop does not show what its supposed to show using the suggested steps!

doesn't seem to be a .net issue.

right click bottom left of screen:

choose run

type services.msc

find the "windows update" entry; right click it and choose STOP

open c:\windows\software distribution and delete the download folder

restart the windows update service

restart pc

run windows update again
