Sea-River Newsletters SPAM

Anyone else get inundated with these?

I get *tons* of the bloody things every week, all to addresses harvested off this site

SPAM is bad, but it's particularly annoying when it is (I think) from an angling site

I get one. (I wondered who'd supplied them with my email address!)

But it is a good read :)

I agree with you Leon, it is a good read..but Elton only needs one copy! I get just the one also, perhaps my e-mail was harvested from here too.

I don't even read it.

Over the years, I have had various @anglersnet.co.uk addresses published on this site. For example, for sending questions to Matt Hayes and Bob Nudd, or specific ones to submit fishery and tackleshop details. When mail arrives here for any other reason than for what the address was set up for, I know that the email address was harvested, without my consent, and used for spamming.

I make it a personal policy to never entertain spam.

Tight lines,

Elton

In fact I used to get two copies Elton, so I unsuscribed from one.

Unlike replying to commercial spammers, this hasn't led to a greater torrent of spam, once you've confirmed your address by asking to be removed!

I'd advise doing likewise, but do have a sneaky read before unsubscribing from the last of the addresses that they are using.

Leon,

I've unsubscribed each address on at least three separate occasions and it hasn't worked.

Even if it had, where have they harvested all the addresses from, and why?

  • 4 months later...

I set up a separate mailbox for this SPAM - I get 13 copies of each issue, mostly to email addresses harvested from my site (i.e. ones I *never* use as outgoing email addresses).
