Dial up problem

Recommended Posts

I've lost the audible dial tone from my modem when connecting to the internet, this was useful as I could check for 1571 messages.

Does anyone know how to get it back.

( Btinternet anytime, 56k)

Thanks,

What modem?

I hope this doesn't mean you have picked up a rogue dialer.

English as tuppence, changing yet changeless as canal water, nestling in green nowhere, armoured and effete, bold flag-bearer, lotus-fed Miss Havishambling, opsimath and eremite, feudal, still reactionary, Rawlinson End.

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

Sorry for the delay in replying Newt, however, I've been searching & managed to answer my own question, heres how I did it excalibur:

click start

click run

type regedit, then ok

follow this path

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E96D-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Settings

SpeakerMode_Dial

Double click and change "Value Data" to M1 and ok then close regedit.

Dial up and there is your tone.

I believe there is an easier way using control panel but I cant figure it out

cheers, Dave

PS. This was the result of a rogue dialer I was victim to which sneakily turned off the modem volume so you cant hear it dialling.........(b@***rds)
