new laptops?

just had a new laptop (packard bell easynote e4) the sound quality is v bad ,pc world said bad speakers and also on the PB web site forum the moderator said all new laptos are the same...would be nice for a honnest oppinion ...thanxs peeps

unless speakers are more than 6ft apart they all sound bad

never seen any use for a laptop in anything but note taking,a laptop used at home is the waste of desk space ,most are obselete before you can afford them

dean, try pluging in your desktops speakers - if they sound OK then the prob is the tiny speakers and not a sound card / driver prob.

 

Chester's you luddite! My first 'PC' was an IBM 'XT''lugable' the 'grandady' of all these mini pc's, it had two 360k floppy discs no less and a monster upgrade to 64k of RAM - and it was just as useful a tool as my Toshi is today.

I travelled about fixing machines and backing up the data from 'my babies' via my various laptops and absolute marvels they have been.

I agree a lot of 'tits' are now to be seen twadling on trains and planes but for me they have been an ireplaceble tool (unlike some of my customers who were just 'tools' )

quite the opposite ...they dont take up half the room up as a computer table, chair and the rest of the parafinailer

that what i was told by pc world that the speakers are too small to get a good sound...just wondered if all new laptops were the same as my sons got one a few years old and the sound isnt that bad but the speakers are quite big ?

I don't see how you can expect to get good sound out of anything the size of a laptop.

It's always been a case of, the bigger the speaker the better!

having said that most laptop speakers are rubbish, theres a new toshiba that looks pretty impressive though

Got to say I have an Inspiron 2600 and the sound from that is quite acceptable in my humble opinion!!

But you did get it from PC world!!! I would not wipe my ARm pit with anything they sold!!

my first computer was a timex zx80 in 79 my first pc was also an xt 8mhz (swiftly clocked to 16mhz) in 1986 ish upgraded that to a at with a 3mb memory card and color monitor.

a laptop uses a crippled cpu and although can play games (the real test of a computers power) nothing like a proper desktop pc can ,their also not really upgradeable whilst you may be able to squeeze another memory chip in little else can be done to upgrade it ,after all if it could run at the same rate as a desktop it would fry in seconds ,as i say only good for spreadsheets and maybe a dvd but little else
