Sorry Starvin,

You told me what....... :)

Told you that Simon wouldn't be able to hold out until he published the review, hence the loose jaw. :D

These things are nearly twice the price of a Ocean Yak!!!!

Yes but 3 times as good :)

Thats like saying "that mercedes is twice the price of that ford - lets all buy fords"

I know this is slightly off topic - but it'll show you how much "stuff" you can lug on an "X" I've just put a video of a HUGE 139kg diver getting himself on and off an "X" with all his kit on our website

www.fishyak.com/videoclips.html

I've also got footage of the same bloke "TRYING" to do the same on a Tarpon 160 and a Perception Swing, the results are too embarrassing to publish

Hmmmm, use to use something very similar on my old jeep, left two very nasty dents in the roof. :(

Seriously Graeme, be very careful when using this style of rack, they are really designed to carry lightweight surfboards, not 65lb of kayak, maybe the cars in the UK have softer roofs.

I believe you need to speak to Speciman before taking the leap, as he has been using something similar with his Caper on a Peugeot.

Personally I would use roof bars, you can pick them up on ebay for most models for under £40.

Thats right be careful with these types. I was using a soft roof rack for at least three months. If straps are fed thru the doors & it rains u will get a wet @rse. Theres more play in them even when tightened and I can understand how Starvin got a few dents.

For a short term solution when you don't need to drive fast and its dry they are ok. But in the long run a proper roof rack wins yaks down.

I bought a Halfords roof rack in the end; half the price of a Thule and more than up to the job.
