  1. Yes but 3 times as good Thats like saying "that mercedes is twice the price of that ford - lets all buy fords" I know this is slightly off topic - but it'll show you how much "stuff" you can lug on an "X" I've just put a video of a HUGE 139kg diver getting himself on and off an "X" with all his kit on our website www.fishyak.com/videoclips.html I've also got footage of the same bloke "TRYING" to do the same on a Tarpon 160 and a Perception Swing, the results are too embarrassing to publish Fishyak
  2. G'day guys! Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in..... Firstly - well done for such an objective review. I'd like to clarify a couple of points. Re the rudder mounting...... The bolts holding the "U" bracket does look a little flimsy. However the nuts that the bolts tighten into are actually captive within the manufacturing process. Rudder controls as foot rests....... You can secure the rudder down when not in use - then the pedals become footrests..... Sorry to hear you couldn't get into the surf with the "X". I know its quite a large clip - but if you want to see an X do a surf beach launch & landing "Aussie style" visit http://www.fishyak.com/videoclips.html Finally, I'd like to ask your permission to use the photo, "standing up" on the Fishyak website? As well as being a great example - its also a bloody good picture! Kind regards Fishyak [ 10. October 2005, 01:11 PM: Message edited by: Fishyak ]
  3. Hi Guys, Just to let you all Know, we will have the first ever Malibu Fishing Kayak in the UK next week. You can see it down at the "South of England Agriculture Society Show" on the 1st and 2nd of October. We are flying in a an X-Factor, so do yourselves a favour and go and have a look, and who knows you may even get a paddle. If you fish "DO NOT MISS THIS":-)
  4. UK price list? As soon as the UK stockist deal is finalised (next week or two) I'll post UK prices plus arrival time of first container full. Mate thats no sardine - thats a pilchard [ 26. August 2005, 04:34 AM: Message edited by: Fishyak ]
  5. Hi guys Its a great example of just how stable the Malibu kayaks are.......and why they are recognised as the best fishing kayak in the world. The one in the photo is an extreme - details here http://www.fishyak.com/extreme.html Just sent on to Malaga Spain - so when you guys are on your sangria ans paella holidays you might spot it! All joking aside - if any of you guys plan on holidaying in Perth WA, you are welcome to take out one of our Malibu fleet out for a days fishing! You can leave your wet suits at home  Fishyak
  6. Forgot how to post pics  - HELP!
  7. Ha Ha! Off to work in a minute, but briefly........ Sorry guys............for some reason I thought you knew who I am and who Malibu kayaks are - and who fishyak is.....especially after my "not so subtle" subtle posts plugging www.fishyak.com I import the Malibu range into Australia - currently one 40ft container full per month. We are looking (and found I think) a UK distributor, who is in the Leicester area (ok I know he coulda been nearer the sea  As well as the range of Malibu kayaks - all the Crack Of Dawn accessories will also be available locally in the UK www.fishyak.com/accessories.html In the meantime, for you guys with no patience and deep pockets - I can ship our kayaks to any UK international airport for #650 UK pounds (THIS is just the shipping costs - but hey if you want to have the best and don't want to wait?? Hope this clarifies things a bit Fishyak (Ex Pom )
  8. G'day Poms Sorry I've been away for a while, been full on getting the Malibu kayaks established here in Oz Great news for those that want to see an X Factor - one is on its way to the UK soon. Looks like we have our UK stockist ready to go - so watch this space for more details on the best range of fishing kayaks being available in the UK. I'll keep you all posted............. Fishyak
  9. Hey Prowler Love the picture where you can't see your yak! Can I use it on my website? Thought only JC could walk on water - or sit in your case Fishyak
  10. Yes - its fair to say if you drive at night (or v early in the morning) you are guaranteed to see roo's and if you do more than 60km an hour you are going to get up close and personal with em! Thats why when you see pics of our cars we have ridiculously large Roo bars fitted to even small cars. Trouble with the roos is they cross roads in convoy - and are pretty stupid creatures.... I was going to upload some images but I've forgot how  Fishyak
  11. G'day Guys You asked for info on fishing kayak stories from here. Great news is an article about kayak fishing has just been published in our best selling local (WA) fishing mag. Rather than upload all the images I've put it on my website for you lot to have a read. Be patent with the images downloading, I've had to keep the res quite high on the scan - so each pic is about 300kbs over 4 pages - enjoy! PS - The Red Fin Perch which the article is about is classed as a imported pest here. Along with foxes, rabbits and cane toads (at least the poms can't be blamed for the cane toads) I'm sure you guys will recognise it as simply a perch - we fly fish and spin for the critters here....... Enjoy the article http://www.fishyak.com/wa_fishing_magazine.html Fishyak
  12. Hi Kelvin Unless you buy about 60 (a container load)- its not going to be viable....... Your 180 pound quote will turn into nearer 1000 pounds per yak - as they will cube the weight.although they only weigh, lets say 20kgs the volume the yak takes up in an aircraft is taken into consideration. I speak from experience on this mate - I had my first Malibu X delivered - shipping+ duty (only 5%) + Gst 10% (your vat) here alone (via air) was cost in quids EXCLUDING paying for the plastic 1200 pounds I hope this isn't too depressing for you..... Since then I've imported 2 x containers loads of Malibu's into Australia. and I'm looking for a business partner (or two) to start getting these Rolls Royce of yaks into Blighty!! Any of you buggers got deep pockets and big balls!!? Fishyak
  13. G'day guys! Do you have specialised fishing yak outlets in the UK yet? I'm sure you must have the same frustrations we had, when talking to paddle sport retailers that know zero about the requirements of a fishyaker... In the USA there are plenty Over here in Oz there are about 4 or 5 Anything planned? Fishyak
  14. G'day My advice is pretty simple - try both, you will soon see the bernefits of a sot. lets face it you wouldn't by a car without a test drive?? Fishyak
  15. G'day Don't buy for the yanks, try the  Aussies!! http://www.fishyak.com/accessoryleash.html This is really light - and would cost much to post to the UK. Got a detachable clip - so when you are using your rod you can unclip it Thet also have paddle leashes - so when you get a bite you just chuck your paddles in the sea and retrieve later http://fishyak.ihoststudio.com/_ihnextras/...=43&startpage=1 Fishyak
  16. G'day YY Got a solution for your bad weather - COME AND LIVE HERE sorry! demon At least when Malibu kayaks start arriving in the UK - you'll have a yak that actually likes a bit of rough weather (Xfactor) We have quite a popular boating community here(Obviously) - we have something called a tinny, an alloy boat with an outboard about 14-15ft long. I've been out in my "X" when the Tinnys don't even try - as long as I've got my thigh straps on,(which secures me to the yak) and a wave hits me - its no problem. Except I get very wet and VERY sea sick when its really choppy Fishyak
  17. Just do it mate  - Its always best to beg forgiveness than ask permission!. demon where does it say no kayak fishing
  18. Spanish Mackrel? Just to clarify what this is. Its not one of those sardines you get being cooked on a barbque in Spain Slightly off topic - but I think you will enjoy.. These guys fish off cliffs - using balloons to take their bait out - you want to see how they gaff the spaniards and haul them up the cliffs That bugger'll pull ya yak along!! enjoy........ http://www.steeppoint.com.au/steep_images.htm fishyak
  19. Hi Simon Don't belive Rex Hunt - you don't catch a fish every cast. Off the beach shore around Perth its generally herring, tailor, you might lock horns with a big mulloway if you are lucky. The odd Salmon - but not eatable like your buggers - we use them to bait our cray pots In the yak you can get amongest snappers, dhufish and samson fish - never had one of these on my yak - but I'm looking forward to getting towed a couple of miles, tiring one of them out!!! Yaks great for crabbing too, and pot robbing (alledgedly) If you go further north - a couple of days hard drive, things get a lot more interesting, Spanish Mackrel, Marlin - BIG sharks....... Tides are not a huge problem, less than a meter, we don't have springs and neaps like you guys, certainly not on the same scale.Wind is very predicable - get off shore beezes every afternoon. Obviously we get the odd howling storm - but not too often....... Early mornings generally calm and crystal clear - you can see your fish 10 metres down on a good day with good sunnys. I'll get a crappy digi cam and start taking pics - my high spec Nikon ain't going in my yak! Fishyak
  20. G'day guys! I'm sure I could probably find this out by trawling through your posts - however I'd be interested to know what kayaks you blokes use in the UK So how about a quick intro - I'll start Kayak: Malibu X Factor Deluxe Age: 45 Height: 6ft 2" Weight: 19 stone (lard arse) Fishing out of: West Coast Australia, Swan River Fishing: Open sea's up to 6kms out, reef fishing, Bream fishing (river) Best experience: Female dolphin with pup, playing alongside my yak Worst Experience: Pulling up a Pink Snapper, to find a shark taking it out of my hands, when landing........ : Be interested to read about you and your yak guys! Fishyak
  21. To make temp bulkhead, use an inflateable beachball or similar - inflate in your hull, adds bouyancy if you need it, but more importantly creates seperate areas. Or go to the bottle shop and drink lots of 5 litre boxes of wine - hic demon then use the bladders for temp bulkhead/bouyancy I carry my wheel cart in my bow hatch - so I can beach anywhere, in my centre hatch I have my fishfinder battery, mobile phone and tackle bag, sun block  and cold beer . In my 45 degree rear hatch I have a spare rod - fully made up ready to go and my sail Fishyak
  22. Don't need a ref here mate - its all good fun !
  23. G'day To he honest the weathers been crap recently - Perth was hit by about 30 mini-tornados last week - knocked a few houses down...... And we've had about 120mm rainfall in 2 days. So a week later we have green stuff!! Its about 25 today - with clear blue skies. generally we have about 10 months that would pass as a pom summer - its hard, we cope! Fishyak
  24. Strewth mate What about the joke about you always loose without wilkinson! thing is thats no joke ! You win some silverware for the first time since 1966 - and your making jokes about us.......Ashes jokes? where do I start... Fishyak!
