Hi,

I’ve always used Kryston Quicksilver and have had no problems, a great all round snag/shock leader. I tie to mono mainline using back to back grinner knots.

Cheers…

Cheers for that lads.....I was going to use amnesia, but I will have a look at the quicksilver. As for knots well you have all just confirmed my initial thoughts...back to back grinners or back to back half bloodknots.

Thanks again :)

I never use shockleaders and prefer to fish the same line straight through, including the end rig material. But if you must use one, then both Kryston Quicksilver and PowerPro are good.

Since I use PowerPro as my primary line in 50lb. on all but my Heavy spinning and saltwater usage, the Zebra muschels play havocs on the line. I now use a 12ft. section of 100lb. PowerPro for my leader. This has prevented unnessary and heartbreaking breaks of the line. The modified blood knot to join them.

either quicksilver (where allowed) or amnesia, using either back to back grinners or a proper shockleader knot (can`t remember the name of it tho)

Google 'Mahin knot' - it's the best leader knot I've ever used.

;)

And on the eighth day God created carp fishing...and he saw that it was pukka.

Terry, who was /is Mahin? Looks suspiciously like the leader knot I was credited with "inventing" about 40 years ago!! I even offered it to Dick Walker....Damned good knot..:) :)

Blessed if I know, Den, but from now on that knot shall be known by me as 'the Poledark Carrot', and there's an end of it. ;)

Great knot, mate.
