Big Perch

Hard to believe that fish is "only" 5lb !!??

It's much wider than the bloke's shoulders, and half the depth of his chest !

Looks like a 20 to me. Is there a typo in the article?

Does it also set a record for the most product mentions in a single catch report?

Bleeding heart liberal pinko, with bacon on top.

Can I ask an innocent question ?

How do you get a big perch to hold its dorsal fin up for the camera ?

Mine always stubbornly flatten theirs

Why do people insist on holding out the fish towards the camera? "because it looks bigger".

Lovely fish though :) Also that guy has to be related to Matt Hayes

Why do Dutchmen (not sure if this guy is Dutch) always put their thumb in the fishes mouth?

I don't know about other species, but mullet have a habit of 'swimming' whilst in your hands.

If they get it right this allows them to fire themselves forward like a rocket, to land with a crunch some feet away from the wet unhooking mat over which you have been carefully kneeling whilst the photographer frames the shot.

I've found that a forefinger in the mullet's mouth ensures that simply cannot happen.

I believe that carp anglers believe that a finger in the mouth for a carp to suck on keeps the fish calm (nothing sexual about it I'm sure! ;) )
