Just to confirm, hunting any living quarry with a bow or crossbow is illegal in the UK.

A bow cannot be fired, as it is not a firearm. Common mistake, Peter, even Aragorn came out with it at the Battle of Helm's Deep in The Two Towers (Tolkien knew better, but Peter Jackson obviously didn't).
