I must go down to the sea again

To the lonely sea and sky

I left my shoes and socks there

I wonder if they're dry?

Seen it in action. I will be copying it. Works well and is pretty quick to retrieve. You can also get loads of line on it. 10/10 Richi.

Fished since 2003, the rest of my life I just wasted.

Is that pink dyneema I see? No expense spared there, even if it is just normal multistrand braid - bloody expensive. Makes my parachute cord on a square frame pale into insignificance!

Great idea. I must try to copy it.

Oi, you nicked my idea, and not only that you built it before me. Nice one :)

I'm planning something very similar but with a built in locking facility so I can chuck it over the side, buoyed off, without worrying that that'll unroll. Mine is going to carry ~600ft of line as I plan on anchoring in around 450ft, give or take 100ft .....based on price and diameter I've gone for 65Kg dacron which I got from here....

Needless to say I want an efficient system for hauling...... so I'm going to try out an Alderny ring, if I can get enough pull to haul it without ripping out the mounting that is :D

Nice job Richi,

I recently read a review on Scuba Line Reels they start at around £25 and upto £90 only carry about 50m of line but are nice and small.

The ones on the link are in the £50-£60 mark which is expensive and going by the review not necessarilly the best but it gives you an idea of what I'm on about.

Spanner, you would have to join a load together :D

Thanks all for your comments---I've had it in action for a few months now------pink dyneema it is Simon, that was by far the most expensive bit but I find it so easy to see-------I tie a loop suitable to the depth that I'm fishing and attach the loop to the yak with a bungee. The reel can then be stored in the crate out of the way---------I made a swimfeeder to attach to it yesterday but I doubt if you want to see that :fish:
