beautiful day for a paddle

Looks like you had better weather than us today to get out for a last paddle Richi :)

I left the yak at home today and went for a bit of shore fishing, amongst a myriad of kite surfers making the most of the wind and surf up here. Didn't really expect to catch much and certainly not a Plaice which are pretty uncommon around here, so I'm quite happy even though it was the only bite in 5hrs <_<

Good luck to Pheonix and all who paddle in her. :)

Supper for someone in a year or two, Me hopefully

Well done Nifty.

A few small plaice are being taken by the commercials in our bay but for us yakkers down here its not worth targetting them down here just yet.

Considering its February you're having a good month fishwise :)

Off to the sunny tropics tommorrow!

However - plaice on the Skerries anyone. I think it is April/May for the best chance. Beach launch, then a short paddle out to the banks. I am trying to get some insider information on the hows, whens and wheres of this one as I am determined to lose my plaice cherry this year!

Skerries are between Start Point and Dartmouth - so could be a good one for the Devon Yakkers. Got a couple of folks interested. A nice weekend, camping on the beachhead and going kayaking out in the bay - dabs are there too and probably a thousand dogfish, but the plaice are famous.

I think Yaskalos and Musket are up for it from what they were saying. It is ging to be a job fitting everything in - classic boat rally weekend of 6th May (Loch Lomond) then again the following weekend in Paris - both of which I am being sent to to cover for the mags, so can't get out of it - or don't want to!)

Here's a few pics from our trip from last Saturday. Richi was also out on the water only a couple of miles east from where we were.

Unusual for me I arrived before Zzippy (over an hour early!) which gave me time to take a few pics post-4691-1140094254_thumb.jpg

..and to prepare the bait. Here we some live mussell and mackeral mix... did it help catch? did it heck - I put it down to time of year :wallbash:

The water was 'glassy'...post-4691-1140094794_thumb.jpg

Here is Zzippy underneath Bournemouth Pier. The quality is not good with the lens smeared and no flash - I was more concerned about my Caper and rod tips being scratched up against the pier struts. Next time I do that kind of fishing I'll only take one rod.
