I hate braid . . . but I have an open mind?

Use braid, it will give your lures more action and the smaller diameter will allow you to fish 'straight up and down' easier. Just make sure you use a relatively soft rod, ie 15lb class at most for jellies/shads/redgills or similar on flying collar gear, and the lightest one you can get away with for the weight of pirks you're using. I use an ABU premium 12-30 for my pirking with 1-1.5lb pirks and I bump some fish off, so I would suggest a 20lb class rod or light uptider.

Spot on torag i use 9oz lures and 33lb dynon you would just not get the same affect with nylon. :fishing:
