You're not 24 hours from Tulse Hill yourself, are you Gerry?

I always liked his songs, even though the delivery could sometimes verge on the histrionic. "Looking Through the Eyes of Love" was played recently on Radio 2's "Sounds of the 60s" and it reminded me what a good song that was.

Perhaps it's my hearing(tinitus), but I can understand the words on older recordings better than modern stuff.

Is the background music loader nowadays?

I object to having to listen to a song dozens of time before I know the words.

I think I can remember the words of Gene Pitney songs, even if I only now know who sang them.

It's because a lot of singers these days (and not only singers) seem to have lost the ability to form words. Hence the popularity of the lyrics round in "Never Mind the Buzzcocks".

I was watching the new series of "That'll Teach Them" the other night, and I couldn't understand a word that one lad was saying. Luckily, he was the one who decided after about a day that he wanted to go home, so I haven't got to struggle next week. :)

'Just 12 minutes from Tulse Hill' doesn't scan too well.... Perhaps that's why they wrote '24 hours from Tulsa'
