As for dacron Elton,I have used it for trolling with downriggers due to its lack of stretch in the past. Dont rate it as a main line now though as braid is far supperior.As gerry says it isnt any where near as long lasting.

 

However for carp hook lengths I still rate it.Its much softer (the whole reason for trying non nylon hook lengths in the first place!) and IMO more fish friendly than most of the modern HPPE hook length braids.

 

I liked the ultra soft Millwards Black Spider and the much thinner Drenan dacron.
