Fishbites - Not Just For The Big Boys!

I'd decided on a 'new' way of presenting Fishbites, although a mate then told me this had been in a mag last month (honestly, I haven't read a fishing magazine for a long time!).

Basically, it's a jelly worm tipped off with Fishbites. I figured that it was similar to lug tipped off with squid.

The rod tip went ballistic, I struck, and reeled in this:

How on earth does a fish this size swallow a hook and then manage to give a thumping bite?!!!!!

:D

I wasn't, Grant. That was fished on the bottom.

Keith, not sure, exactly, what they are, but this is a crab variety.

I knew about it about 24 hours ago :)

I just decided to do it, although I gather it's been mentioned in a mag recently, too.

Basically, I want to be able to go fishing when I don't have any fresh bait and decided that, if this works, I'll have an answer.

Went fishing with my dad last October down to the rocks. Where I fished all afternoon for Pollack, slow retrieve etc - all he did was stick on a bright yellow 6' Mister Twister style Jellies, and cast it out and leave on bottom hoping for best.

His catch - 2 Cod, 3 Pollack, 1 Coalfish

My catch - 1 Coalfish

I'm yet to try fishing that way myself, but look to trying it.

Gillies :)

Elton, glad you reminded me to order some more.

How long since they knocked over 25% off the price?

Nice Poorcod, by the way!

Jim,

Not sure about the price - my mate mentioned something about it on Tuesday. If Fishing Innovations are reding this, they should drop me an 'official' line on the subject, as I'll gladly spread the word :)
