Mastic/ Silicone/ hole sealing type stuff

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to find the right stuff to seal the hole where the cables go in my kayak. I have tried silicone, and some other stuff from our local hardware store, but it doesnt seem to stick to the hull, and keep the seal in place.

Aside from the perfect fitting grommit, which I cant find, has anyone got any sealant suggestions?

Loctite 595 will do the job, I would put a little bit of masking tape on the inside of the hole and squirt loads of Loctite from the top, when dry (24hrs) remove the tape, job done or add a little more if required.

Loctite 595 will peel from the kayak if necessary, but if you leave alone it will provide the perfect seal.

Somerset kindly sorted me out with some bungs (not the sort politicians have) for the hole! And he still hasnt even met me yet- what a star!

Getting married next weekend, so will be out in the kayak this week getting my head sorted, so invaluable- thanks again Nigel.

I think its also Nigel's 21st next weekend!!
