Well Said Australia

The thing is this radicalising of all ages has been going on now for at least three decades long before we ever heard of Bush and Blair etc.

A lot of problems started with the Russian invasion of Afghanistan where we supported the like of Bin Laden, the supporting of the Shah of Iran.

I have to say that from where I sit Bush / Blair inherited the sticky end of a very long story and were saddle with trying to sort it out against a background of other countries such as France who were no angels in the early politics of North Africa back biting and failing to see that their previous actions led in part to the current situation.

Ken, I agree, there have been many histirical reasons for the alienating of one religion or belief from another.

The point I was trying to make is that if I were a radical cleric today, interested in brainwashing susceptible youth into believing that the "West" is everything that is evil and hates Islam, then I wouldn't have to look far for images to support my case.

It has always been the case that the trouble has been fomented by a tiny proportion of radical individuals who are not representative of the mainstream. However, their hand is strengthend by images of Guantanamo, Abu Grhaib and stories of torture flights as well as pictures of the bombing of Lebanon while the US are supplying the bombs.

Then when you get an Education Minister saying things like "if they don'y like it they can clear off" sentiments more suited to the Public Bar than the debating chamber, we are doing the radical clerics job for them.

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Why is it that when anyone makes a stand for holding up the values of their country and asking new comers to abide by their laws they are sighted as being two yards up Bushes' backside?

I am not a Bush fan at all, but I firmly believe that if you take up permanent residence in a foreign country the law of the land must be obeyed and the values of society upheld and as stated if you are not prepared to do so then you should look else where that better suites your needs.

Now how far does that put me up the Bush a****

My point that I was making was that Howard is only interested in being Bush's bum buddy regardless of the political issue, and that my comments were not relating to the Muslim issue.

I hate getting up early, I didn't even realise there were two 6 o'clocks in one day!
