Dont you know anything Monkey Boy? A real pole fishing expert knows exactly what diameter line equates to which breaking strength and which elastic is best suited I of course know all these details of by heart[COUGH] :o All though I have heard that some people just look on the back of most brands of elastic and look at the Diameter/breaking strain/size of elastic reccomendations

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

As a rough guide this is what i use.

4-5 elastic 1lb-1.5lb 0.8mm

6-8 elastic 1.6lb-2.6lb 0.10mm

10-12 elastic 3lb-4lb 0.11mm-0.12mm

14-16 elastic 5lb-6lb 0.13mm-0.15mm

18-20 elastic 6lb-8lb 0.18mm-0.21mm

hope this is of use to you

p.s just a rough guide!!

hi,

Markymark's right, but there are differant lines

out there, eg one make o.12 ultrega 4.1 bs

0.12 powerline 4.12 bs.

my guide. 10s = 0.10 / 12s = 0.12= 0.13 /14s=

0.13 + 0.14.

i never go above allthough my pole 20s+ rated,

hope this helps, ever pole angler has got his/hers reciepe

I usually think about it the other way (or is it the same way, im confused now).

So i use 5s for smallish fish (stockies, roach etc)

6-8s (half decent bream, small tench, small carp)

10-12's (bream, tench, carp)

Then upwards of that, bigger carp.

then i base my line strengths on the fish in a similar way.
