mmm, JRC or Badger shelter?

Now Badger stuff isn't exactly known for quality, but isn't this just a renamed JRC Dave Lane brolly at a cheaper price?

....and the JRC version - http://www.jrcproducts.com/viewProducts.as...e=&PageNo=2

Dont look like much in it to me Ant! Would have to actually see one though to say if it was just rebranded rather than a cheaper copy.

On the subject of rebranding it really pees me off how we get ripped off like this! Like I said I dont know if this is but I know of plenty of other products whose only difference is the label and price! The "cost of development/advertising "excuse just doesnt wash with me.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Looks identical. Do Badger & JRC have any links? surely JRC wouldn't l let Badger just copy their design. I've got the JRC version and it's top kit, is the Badger one height adjustable?

One good reason to do something is better than a thousand bad excuses not to.

Good chance it is Polly as it must have the strap running across between the two front ribs other wise it wouldnt stay up! Would love to compare the two just to know for sure though.

I dont know exactly how they get away with it! I know a lot of rods are the same blanks and just have different fittings or a coat of laquer but as you said something like this is a bit hard to disguise!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Maybe made in the same factory somewhere?

Must admit i'm tempted by it.

Wouldn't be surprised!!!!

My bed chair has a "Carp Bell" logo sewn into it and I know (advised by vendor) that it is absolutely identical to one in the JRC range but £60 cheaper!!!!!!!!

Apparently built in same factory using the same materials (and possibly the same worker!!!!) but just have different logo sewn in at the end of the production line.

I was asked if I was a tackle tart who worried about which big name brand I bought (who me, surely not!!!!) and if not I could save myself £60. It's not a con, it's just a legal exploitaion of Mr Carp Angler's ego at wanting to have and use big named kit.

One good reason to do something is better than a thousand bad excuses not to.

One of my local tackle shops offered me a "copy" jrc stealth brolly.

It was identical and they even threw in the storm poles free for 30 quid cheaper.

RUDD

Different floats for different folks!

How much did you pay for it Polly and where did you get it from? :)

I wouldn't mind buying cheap gear if i thought i was getting the quality with it but you buy the name brand stuff because that quality should be assured! I wonder how often we could be buying the name brand gear but could buy say badger stuff which is exactly the same...........................but cheaper?

Could Badger be a subdivision of JRC?

With my silken line and delicate hook,i wander in a myriad of ripples and find freedom!
