A Parcelforce driver fraudulently signed for a delivery on my behalf.

Recommended Posts

On the electronic signature declaration online the signature is a cross and it states that the person who signed for it was me.

So I have a card that states left behind the bin and an online a declaration that I signed for it.

I paid for this item via Paypal and as far as Paypal are concerned the item is delivered because of the signature, even though it is a mere cross. So according to Paypal the seller is not liable. The fact the signature is fraudulent is of no consequence they said, there is a signature.

Unfortunately that's PayPal for you ,firstly you have to challenge the signature with the courier then challenge PayPal .

I don't have to tell you to keep the original and send copies to the courier ,I mark my copies with the word copy in highlighter pen just to highlight I have the original still

Unfortunately even cameras won't effect PayPal only to challenge the courier in this case

As PayPal won't cough up then you'll need to claim from the seller. This link may help you but it seems it's a grey area: http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/problem/my-parcel-was-left-outside-my-home-and-stolen-what-can-i-do.

So grey its not there lol

Not sure the sellers at fault ,the card proves he sent something so his part was done it all falls apart after he sent it,to him the parcel was delivered so the deed was done ,the hard part is to persuade him to help you with your problem

I don't blame the seller at all. He posted it and as he said in Paypal resolution there is a signature, albeit I would have thought he'd have seen a mere cross as suspicious.

Parcelforce have told me that the manager who has liaised with me to date will contact me Monday as he has been informed that Paypal will not act.

If the Manager cannot or will not resolve the Police have said go to them. The fact the signature is supposed to have been made by me when CCTV proves me somewhere else, the signature bears no resemblance to mine and the Courier cannot describe the person who signed his pad means it is likely fraudulent.

That then becomes criminal.

The loss of the article could mean the Courier took it, someone the Courier knew took it or a third party spied an opportunity and took it.

There is also the Couriers admission to his manager that the item was left behind the bin by him.

Wonder how long it'll be before I get my money back.....

Just thought I'd add to this to update. Might be something UK users might need to know.

The issue still remains unresolved.

The Courier has admitted to leaving the order in an unsafe location and forging my signature yet so far there is no recourse for me.

Parcelforce state the sender must make the claim, however because of the forged signature the sender and Paypal believe the item received.

The sender refuses to contact and Paypal refused to provide a means for me to pass on the evidence.

Even though a senior Parcelforce manager confirmed the findings Parcelforce claims will not contact him at his depot.

To date it is now in the hands of a Director, who I had to contact myself.

So to conclude:

The courier admitted to leaving the item in an unsafe location and forging my signature.

Paypal do not have any recourse when fraud is in alleged to be in play nor do they seemingly care as they are unwilling to provide a means for the evidence of fraud to be forwarded to them.

Parcelforce claims have no means to compensate the recipient nor do they seemingly wish to communicate with senior management when said management can confirm the fraud.

The Parcelforce Director is now strangely silent.

Makes you wonder doesn't it.

My last option is the Police who are seemingly keen to take this...

So much for PayPal!

Is the seller a business or a private individual? Have you tried to claim from the seller yet?

Good luck!

Good luck!

The seller is a private individual.

My recourse, or so I thought, was to get the seller to claim using PayPal buyer protection but Paypal decided I had received the goods solely down to the fact the order was supposedly signed for.

CCTV and a chip and pin transaction puts me 3.5 miles away at the very time of the delivery, remembering too the courier left a while you were out card, yet Paypal did not want this evidence and didn't even bother to view the signature.

A recent Paypal comment was " You don't see the Paypal logo on the couriers van, do you?"

So what is the point of Paypal buyer protection when it clearly does not protect the buyer?

My posty and a couple of the regular couriers will "sign for me" and leave the goods in the porch if we are not in when he comes. Very handy as it would be a pain having to rearrange delivery. Never had a problem yet :)

Had another instance where I checked the tracking number and saw the goods had been signed for and delivered.............not to me, I was waiting indoors for the parcel. An hour later the parcel arrived and I queried the signing. Courier said he was being monitored and should have been at my house at about the time he signed....so he covered his back..........and probably kept his job.

Perhaps your guy thought he was doing you a favour and it all went tits up?
