2008 Halibut and Ling Cod in Alaska

Very very poor video of boat 'anglers' catching mostly small halibut that really should be returned to grow to a decent size. The last one on the video was worth taking, the others were too small. The guy who was 'gaffing' them certainly needs a lesson in how to do it properly, possibly with a better shaped gaff to help him. Lastly, none of the 'anglers appeared to know how to make best use of a rod when playing, pumping up relitivly small fish. There was a link on this forum yesterday regarding 'do fish feel pain'. I'm afraid the antis will have a field day with this type of video. Not impressed sorry. <_<

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Very good looking fish Dan. Good luck next week.

Actually, Barry, the conventional wisdom is that anything over 50 lbs should be thrown back for a couple reasons. The first is that the size correlates to spawning. The second is that the bigger fish apparently do not taste as good. We kept that big one because it was the biggest of the year and I wanted to test the "bigger doesn't taste as good" theory and have a nice clip to end the video this year. Very true that many of the rookies didn't know how to gaff (hence the sarcastic comment in the video) or to use a different rod, but may people only go sea fishing once in their lifetime so some latitude is ok. Any anti's who care to comment can be referred to our moose hunting, gun toting female governor and soon to be vice president :). Hope your day tomorrow is better, mate.

Not only do the big gals lay way more eggs than the younger (and smaller ones) but the survival rate of their eggs is much higher. One 50lb female will contribute by far more and healthier fry than 5 10lb females can.

Antis in Alaska - now there is an idea that offers the possibility of some fun.

Hopefully we can move the lady to Washington D.C. early next year.

My days when fishing are always good mate, i can assure you of that. The same argument regarding the little ones taste better is used in the uk for the bass, thats why the average size inshore is 36 cm or less. However years ago, the size inshore and on shore fishing in particular was certainly a lot larger than that. When a newbie fishies with us, the most enjoyment i can have is showing them the rigs, how to use the gear correctly and it gives me great pleasure when they get a result. Tight lines my friend.

Don't the fishermen who run the boats think of conservation or is it elsewhere that they are having problems, At least they could have used a Large landing net and returned a few to grow bigger!!

Most of the Lingcod looked like keepers, I think 60cm is the min landing size in Canada at least. And I can confirm that they do eat really well!

Dan

There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot!
