I have a Yukasa (summat like that) 12v 7Ah gel battery mounted in a water resist thermal sandwhich bag thingy (type that you put a ice block in) zip tied to the scupper post to stop it sliding. Silicon is marine grade basic stuff. Good point about the fungicide (neoprene booties!! errrw) :) ~~~~~~~~~~SDD

Small motorcycle battery then. You can get gel batteries for running a rabbitting lamp for about £20 - 14 amp hours. They are light too - because you have to carry them all night!

SDD.

Sounds like your trying to reach behind you for gear etc.

Have you practiced sitting side saddle on her?

Makes life so much more comfortable, and easier working.

Might be worth leaving all the kit off, and having a go.

Climb all over her, and get to know her.

Well worth the effort, and youll enjoy the Kayak much more.

YY

Saw a few pics on another site of people sitting side saddle, not tried it yet, but see how it could make life easier. Was waiting for warmer water before falling in, err trying it out I mean! LOL. Do you do that (sit side on) without going swimming? :)

SDD,

Honestly, its very easy.

Once you do it a few times, it becomes second nature.

Thats why its worth the time doing it.

You dont have to be deep to climb all over her, waist deep water is ok, then if you over gun it, all you get wet are meat and two veg.

When throwing your legs over, just try to keep your torso wieght centre of the Yak.

You will be supprised how far you can lean her on a rail, before she wants to tip.

Yes I spend a lot of time side saddle, if your out for some time, its nice to change position.

Take charge of her :D

Thanks for asking Dave.

Simon at Bournemouth, imported a hatch from Newzealand for me to try, alas, it was not a good fit either.

So it looks like Im stuck with what I have.

Quietly confident it will do the job.

Ive added some webbing straps to hold it dowm.

Havnt been able to try it yet.

Dont laugh now.........Ive got Tennis Elbow :D:D:D its a job to lift a jar of Coffee, let alone the Kayak, and as for paddling, well...... :(

Think Ill be having one of them injection thingys.

Need it soon, cant miss to many days this season :D
