Its one of my local fisheries, and it was great to read about it.....and see many of my mates names in the "honours" list !!!!!

At least swanswater is a real fishery, not a glorified stock pond. I just can't see why anyone would go to Wellsfield.....? At least if they are there they aren't on my beat !

Hmmm, You have a beat on Swans do you !!!!! If Swans aint a Stock pond, what is it then ????? Its the size of a puddle.....bit better than Wellsfield tho'....

 

BTW, I gave up fly fishing, because most of the club trips were to stew ponds......like Loch Leven,Fitty, the Orchil etc etc....sick fed up catching lumps of fish, with no fight in them...even the 5lb odd Steelhead I got on Swans was beaten in 2-3 mins !!!! BUT, I still like to see what my "Fly" mates are catching ...

 

I hear one of the best Brown Trout waters ( Stocked as well ) in Scotland, is to become another Rainbow stock pond next season.... ..Carron Valley reservoir.....the way of it I suppose.....

Hmmm, You have a beat on Swans do you !!!!! If Swans aint a Stock pond, what is it then ????? Its the size of a puddle.....bit better than Wellsfield tho'....

I agree with you M8 in every thing said especially about Carron Valley, its really gone down hill from the good old days.

 

As for stock ponds as it was put; at least Wellsfield has good quality fighting fish in it IMHO, perhaps we should meet up up there Eh?

Hi Malky, I dont do Fly fishing any more mate, gave all my gear to my Bro in Law.....As I said, the club ( and I'm secretary) seem to think its great fun on those waters...not my idea of a good day out.....I much prefer the likes of the Quoich, Oich, Awe, Arkaig etc etc.....I know they are (some of them at least ) stocked to a certain extent....but still love big loch fishing more than fishing in a puddle.....

Look down the list to the letter "R" as in Rocks !!!!!!!!! 3 for 10lbs....he's used bigger for bait......a couple of years ago, on Davys boat, he had 3 for approx 500lbs...what a climbdown !!!!!!
