I have seen pictures of barble to 12.5lb that are ment to be caught from the above area, there are land marks on the pictures that I can relate to and have fished the area for chub.

Can anyone shed any light on Essex barble?

i would not be surpirsed if it is true there are supposed to be some in the chelmer and the two waterways are linked. the fact is no one fishes for them much so they don't get caught. might be worth a go for the pioneer angler.

take a look at my blog

there are many barbel in the Stour including recent stockings by EA. They seem to come out at several hotspots and are difficult to target but several double figure fish have been caught with pics and by well known local anglers.

There have been two 11lb plus Barbel out of the Stour in the last month, however I have not heard of any out of the Chelmer, Can or Wid....

Now the Chelmer is known for its Chub!! Which have graced the bank at 6lb, 6lb 10oz and 7lb 2oz in the last week, looks like a good winter's fishing is to be had in Essex.....
