Strange phone problem

Recommended Posts

Friday, my phones (bog standard BT landline) were working normally.

Saturday, both phones are dead. one is a cordless answerphone with the base unit plugged into wall socket and the other is the original handset thingy, always plugged in.

The broadband, on the same line and plugged into a two way connector with the main phone, is, as you can see still working.

I have checked that all the plugs are still connected.

I've registered a fault with BT via the web, and from there I've re-routed calls to the land line to the wifes mobile (I ain't silly :) ), but in the meantime, while I wait for BT does anyone have any ideas what the prob might be?

No thunderstorms Friday night to Saturday morning the wife tells me, I wouldn't know, I die when I go to sleep. :)

I don't have another phone handy to plug in. :(

Would T&L kill the phones and not the computer?

Have my doubts about BT doing much anyway, if they try the undiverted line to check it they'll just get an answerphone message.

Do both the phone come through the same filter? If the broadband is working it would point towards the filter not fuctioning.

Could be any number of things, datafill removed, channel card problem, copper jumper wire removed/disconnected etc.....down to BT to fix though.

Working now. :)

BT left a message on the answerphone to say it was an underground fault. Still don't understand how the broadband remained working though.

Same happend to me a couple of weeks a go. We dammaged a phone line by exposing the wires, taped it up and reburied it. Then it 'got wet underground ' and would not work. On phoning bt they traced the fault where we had damaged it. They told us although it could not be used to phone, broadband worked as it only requires one wire to work. The phone requires two.

Mystery solved? cheers.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..
