Darnsarf's pucker new nav light

The light is a spigot (allows the mast to be removed) mounted alli mast boat nav light that I bought from Alladins Cave chandelry. Cost £28. Came as red and green but i just removed the internal filters. It is very bright and also light. Allowed the Police launch to go round us. (Could have been embarrassing)

It sits at the back out of the way and works really well, the cockpit mounted switch is needed as it is actually out of reach when paddling.

The down side is it is very power hungry I have tried an LED alternative but that did not work. I get about 7hrs out of my 9AH battery when running it together with my finder/GPS. Very bright even lights the yak up. Wiring is easy just run it to a junction block via the switch. I always use an in line fuse from the bat to the block (3amp).

I am currently trying to get around a dodgy connection somewhere in the system and that may explain why the LED didnt work but once I have ironed out that it should be the DBs.

Hi DS was thinking of rigging mine up to a separate battery---how long do you think the light alone would run on say a 3.5ah ?

I used a junction box to wire my fishfinder and that was my dodgy connection :wallbash:

Not really sure guessing about 4 hrs. The Finder/GPS was set to low power for the test so its share wasnt 50/50.

Fished since 2003, the rest of my life I just wasted.
