'Tis true, at least that's how I kill mine when I take one for the pot.

I used to break the necks on trout and sea fish I caught, much easier and cleaner that bashing the heeds in.

Funny you should say that. I used to break the necks on trout too, but it is a long time since I killed a fish, so long I can't remember when.

At least they used an unhooking mat (wouldn't want to harm a delicate fish like a pike before clubbing it to death ).

 

Perhaps they were going to eat it. I've killed and eaten pike before [lights blue touch paper and retires to a safe distance...]

Im glad its not me getting hit over the head with a branch.This needs sorting out. I hope i never see them other wise they will be in the water quicker than i say "go".

They need educating.

There are cleaner ways of dispatching a fish or any other animal for that matter.

 

Nice fishing clothes they are wearing, Sports World do fishing attire now??

This is how we've responded to a couple of the papers which have contacted us about it today:

 

"We're shocked and appalled that people calling themselves pike anglers can behave like this in the

21st Century - let alone show off how ignorant they are by filming it and posting it on the internet.
