I got really cross about the Mail's coverage of this as it cited it as another example of gun culture. No, the man was a shooting fanatic. He isn't some 16 year kid who is carrying a gun as part of some gang fashion statement.

 

Anyway, still tragic. RIP to both the men.

But the row that triggered the shooting is said to have started after he made a drunken pass at another woman.

 

And his claims that Mildred had been seeing another man while he was away added fuel to the blazing argument.

 

So, the first statement in the article about it being over angling is bull....

Ah - but an article with headlines about problems during a drunken argument over other women/men would not have nearly the 'hook' as the unusual 'killed over an argument about fishing too much'.

Of course the Daily Mail frequently over elaborates, overcooks and sensationalises everything. it's the Sun without breasts!

Not just these days Newt, I worked for a Newspaper at the beginning of the 50's and if news was dead (usually July time) they would invent some
