Big Floating Beads

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find some big floating beads please. I am after some in 15 or 20 mm size and preferably silver coloured.

 

They are like the ones on this page from Glasgow angling but they only seem to sell 10mm.

Hi Glennk you could try one of those old style car seat covers that were made from wooden beads (very popular in the 80s/90s) theres hundreds to each seat cover. Boyes do a very good chrome finish paint aerosol for about £3

Glenn have you tried any of the american suppliers such as bass pro they use some largish beads for steelhead fishing, the only thing is most have a very small ridge along their length to make them spin, I have used them around the 10-12mm size but not sure if they go any bigger (but we are talking america after all)Not sure what they call them, they may be called but "cheaters" springs to mind. They are usually teardrop shaped though I have seen round ones too.

just did a quick search and found these I'm sure a more extensive search will sort you out searched under "steelhead cheaters" otherwise maybe a haberdashers may help.

Thanks chappers I found a few links via google for steelhead cheaters and I think this page coulkd be useful.

 

Has anyone any experience of buying small amounts of stuff from the states? Wont be any need for import duties etc ?

Sure you found it anyway.

You should be ok with small amounts drop them a line and ask them to mark it down as a gift on the customs sticker thingy.

Pity I didn't know about this last week my Dad is now just on his way over from Oregon and could have borought you a load.

Not beads Glenn but have you thought of using polyballs? They are cheap in craft shops (not tackle shops!), stick a piece of biro tube through to make threading the line easy.

Thats a good idea mate. I do fancy some of these glowing beads though. I seen the smaller ones and they look brilliant. Should be good for the old mackerel corking method and could be very productive around dusk.
