As I have just come back into the world of carp fishing in the last couple of years the amount of bollies out there is amazing from when I was first carping in the early 80's I for one get taken in by the hype in the adverts . luckily for me I have found a local bait maker who will make any reasonable requests I am not a field tester or anything like that but like to support small businesses . Anyway for me it was some aniseseed ones which I bought from a well know firm absolutely nothing on them as I made a mistake of buying a three kilo bucket of shelf lifes instead of frozen baits . What are you bait mistakes ?

He who simply trys, Is not trying hard enuff

Aniseed are good boilie's, especialy Richworth maple and aniseed, and if you use pigeon conditioner for a particle feed, it's got aniseed in it, carp love it.

As to worst for cathing, I had some Hells Kitchen once, they were jet black in colour, smelt abit like putty for glazing your windows or greenhouse, so presume there was linseed it them. could never catch a thing on them where ever I tried them, can't remember who made, don't want to either, only real use they had was for caterpulting at cootes and moorehens, to keep them at bay.

There's an old saying that goes, "There's no such thing as a bad boilie, just a bad angler."

Actually, there isn't. I just made it up :D

Ive never actually made a mistake in buying baits but my friend has he brought what said to be squid and octopus boilies and they didn't smell like squid and octopus they smelt of rat food  so i brought some squid and octopus ones from a different brand and they smelt completely different
