Kayak anchor line storage.

Recommended Posts

This is more like I was thinking of:

200lb dacron, 1.3mm diameter:

A bit less than 300m would be fine as well! I wouldn't hand haul it but rigging it up through a pulley system and straight onto a spool should work.

Plus you can make up a few wind-on skate leaders while you are at it!

I've used both of these and like them well. The top one is available in regular or stainless and with the anchor home and stored horizontal, the mount doesn't need to be as high off the water to prevent the anchor from catching water while you are paddling.

Hi Newt,

Nice looking pices of hardware.

But governs the anchoring to the bow mainly.

The pully system on my Kayak, means I can place the anchor rope anywhere from bow to stern, and anywhere in between.

Gives me more control over the boat when at anchor.

May work for other Kayaks though, like it.

Hi Yakity,

Also been looking into keeping the Anchor and Line tidy, managed to get a plastic anchor sleeve for the crate at the chandlers, a little long as standard so will have to cut it down a little, they also had a series of rope tidies as used by the yachties, made of a tough canvas, took some measurements so will get the tape out next time the yak is out of the garage, hopefully next weekend. :)

Davy. What we need is one of your pet skate on the end. It can dig itself into the sand and have a snooze while we fish. Then to move at anchor just give a yank on the line - 1 tug to move to starboard, 2 tugs to move to port and 3 tugs to back down the tide a bit :D

Storage ashore is bit of a problem though.

Starvin.

Sounds interesting idea.

Im going to persevere with the retractable coil idea though.

I like the idea of the line winding itself onto an enclosed coil, whilst hauling the anchor.

Only trouble is........where the feck do

I put the pegs :D:D ........answers on a postcard only please. :P:P:D
