On line rod spares

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, can someone point me in the direction of an online dealer for rod rings?

I have a favorite boat rod requiring a new tip ring, it is on the large size though, 8-9 mm.

Thanks in advance. :)

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

There are plenty of other places selling guides on the internet, some probably a bit cheaper but no-one else in the UK has the selection that these guys have and they are all genuine Seymo & Fuji too.

Cheers

As Barry says all good quality stuff and a big range. In fact, Hopkins & Holloway are the manufacturers of Seymo rings rather than just suppliers.

dont bother with ebay i ordered a 4.5mm (its the bit that goes on the rod first then 2 different "ring" sizes depending on what reel you use) and i got a 3mm one ,didnt bother complaining it will be used in time!

an easy way to measure the bore is to stick the blunt end of a drill in it and read it off the side of the drill ,if its slightly to large when it arrives then wrap a little whipping thread around the rod tip and bung on more araldite and force it on ;)

with hollow tipped rods its much better to be slightly bigger than smaller so be carefull

If the rods are going to be used for heavy stuff like Shark you will probably be better off going for roller tip rings - these are certainly available in the UK but you'll get 'em a lot cheaper from the States, some of the cheaper ones (like most of those available in the UK) are absolute rubbish - The most reliable are from a company called AFTCO - there may be others eqally as good but I don't know of any.

Actually, H&H also supply AFTCO guides, look here: http://www.hopkinsholloway.co.uk/products....=1&CatID=26

Also, if you Google "Aftco roller guides" you'll find 100's of suppliers in the US - it also may be may be worth searching ebay.com - you'll need to look for sellers that are willing to ship to the UK tho'

Good Luck

Hi Barry, the rod in question did origionally have a roller tip. I lost a rather large conger with it one year as i also use braid. It was near the surface, the line trapped itself behind the roller. So i definatly would go for a quality tip replacement. Me being an old fart the rod compliments the senator reels that i use, it is both long and very powerfull, that is why i want to repair it as opposed to getting a modern equivalant. The other rod is a split cane boat rod, made in japan years ago, i nicked the tip ring off that at one stage, i would like to replace it with a simular one, this rod i don't use. Thanks again.
