Hiya,

A couple of days ago I discoverd another new creature in the aquarium.. a King ragworm about 8" long. I dont know where or when it got into the tank as I dont remember introducing it, but it is doing well. It is amazing to watch when it's feeding on lumps of frozen prawn and it's even attacked the tongs I use to feed the tank with.

Dave,

I presume its a coldwater marine aquarium you have, any chance you can post an outline of setting one up.

I've thought about this for some time as I would like to keep our native fish etc, but does the temperature need to be kept low, & if so how?

Yup it is a Native marine setup I have, The tank is a bog standard 350l juwel trigon corner tank. I did have a beer cooler running a few hours a day just to keep the temp around 14 degrees, unfortunatly it packed in and shorted out the home power supply when I was on holiday. As a result we lost quite a few of the creatures before I could get to release, if it had only been rockpool stuff I would have been ok but I had quite a bit of deep water stuff which couldnt stand the temp rise :(

I've kept Cod, Haddock, Whiting, Coalies, a grey gurnard, a LSD, long spined sea scorpions, eelpout's and butterfish. The only prob with the bigger fish is you need to add a skimmer to help keep the nitrates down.

below is a photo of the tank before the cooler packed in, I'm only starting to re stock now.
