What a miserable report. Totally missed all the good bits, like girls in bikinis, fishing in the sunshine, barbecues, etc.

And despite lots of speculation on heatwaves killing people, no speculation of the effect of milder winters in reducing excess winter mortality, currently about 25,000 people a year.

Well I always knew that I was going to Die of something, So I wont spend too much time worrying about what.

an over dose off Bikini Clad girls and cold beer seems better than hyperthermia :D all the same.

Someone once said to me "Dont worry It could be worse." So I didn't, and It was!

Here we go, they're such misery guts at the Guardian, anyone would think they didn't like the idea of a bit of good news; here's how the Beeb reported it:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7240463.stm

Global warming 'may save lives'

The risk of a fatal heatwave in the UK within five years is high, but overall global warming may mean fewer deaths due to temperature, a report says.

A seriously hot summer between now and 2012 could claim more than 6,000 lives, the Department of Health report warns.

But it also stresses that milder winters mean deaths during this time of year - which far outstrip heat-related mortality - will continue to decline.

The report is to help health services prepare for climate change effects.

Wonder why the Grauniad chose not to mention that bit, the little tinkers ;)

Maybe global warming is having a detrimental effect on the price of sandals and they're a bit peed off about the whole thing :D

This warm dry spell has enabled me to have a large bonfire almost every day, to get rid of last Autumns prunings from my plum trees and other garden rubbish.

Bring on the global warming say I, if only one cyclist gets heatstroke it will be worth it.

Strange old weather though...yesterday I sat facing the sun which was reflecting off the water and found it rather to much. I moved into the shade and damned near froze. Within 20 mins of the sun going down (about 17.10, there was ice forming on my U/H mat.

Today, in the sun, it was very pleasant, and then about 17.00 a cold mist started to roll down from the Downs, and once again, within 15 mins ice was forming on the U/H mat again.

20 mins later, I was indoors in the warm :)

Here the fog didn't lift until late afternoon, but around an hour later descended again as the temperature dropped.

Pretty annoying to hear on the radio that most of the country was getting sunshine.
