ANGLING CLUB WORK PARTIES

A club I used to belong to in Hertfordshire would only issue new or renew membership at the working parties, application for membership had to wait and attend a working party in the close season, it may seem harsh but it was a well disciplined club with a big waiting list.

 

I wish I still lived near them to be a member again, mind you, it may be different now , that was the 70's

I used to belong to a couple of clubs that had work party or no membership rules....both nearly folded a few years ago due to lack of members. They ended up giving up all the rules (vetting, workparties sponsoring etc) and even advertised for new members!

 

Steve appears to be in a fairly unique position with Wingham, he picks who he wants, tells them how little they can fish, and charges a great deal of money for the priveledge. I live only 15 mins away,but there is loads of equally good fishing at 1 /5 the price and for 7 days a week and 52 weeks a year.

I've just booked into one of my new clubs work parties but it was more a case of being pushed than volunteering . I've decided to be a bit more serious about my fishing this coming year and this will include some nights . Unfortunately , the club have a seperate night ticket and priority will be given to members that attend work parties.....hence my hand has been forced really , albeit becuse i want the extended fishing hours .

 

There is a lake that i'm aiming at this season which has its water levels lowered during its 2 month shut-down and so attending a work party here has an extra incentive as a lot of bars/plateau's/troughs are`revealed so i'll be taking my digi camera and maybe a notebook with me for that one !!!
