The claims about hypochlorite are correct - if you electrolyse salt water, you get sodium hydroxide, hydrogen and chlorine. Though a lot of it is evolved at the surface, as the sodium hydroxide concentration increases the chlorine tends to react with it, so you end up with, basically, bleach. The claim that this is desirable is... interesting.

 

Wasn't it you who once mentioned that you had trouble cleaning your works mug, Steve? Problem solved :thumbs:
