Winfield Carbon Match

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure but I think my first carbon fibre rod was a Shakespeare Sigma match rod which I bought soon after my fibreglass Shakespeare Match International finally gave up the ghost.

If I remember rightly the first carbon rod I actually used was my brothers 15ft rod which I sagged a substantial amount from handle to tip,I think he got it in the mid 70's.

My first carbon rod was a Silstar match rod, I forget the model name but I think I bought approximately 1982.

My first carbon rod was a Silstar match rod,

Mine too. Didn't buy it. Found it lying (in its bag) on a farm track leading to one of the first pay-lakes in the area. Put a note on the notice board by their "reception" office, but nobody ever claimed it.

Have used it a time or two. Not impressed, neither with the rod nor the pay-lake.

I had a Winfield 12' Carbon Match, bought from Woolco Killingworth back in about 1981, It replaced an ABU All England glass rod that I wasn't too impressed with. It served me many years until I replaced it with a Silstar sliced tip Boron rod. It performed admirably.

After a certain age, if you don't wake up aching in every joint, you are probably dead.
