Sportsman 350
I have a SATA DVD reader that is not working properly. I insert the disc, it recognises it, goes into auto run and I get the box asking if I want to let the program make changes to my computer. I click "yes" the disc runs for around 30 seconds and then switches off. Nothing appears on screen. This happens with different DVDs so it is not a disc problem. Any quick fixes or do I just bin it and get another one? If so, are USB external drives OK? Thanks Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be. Thanks Perhaps its a windows installer problem ,in the toolbox in iobit system care thers a fix windows dooda (i am not on pc at the moment) or you can download a troubleshooter from microsoft to do the sameThe usb dvd drives work fine just ensure its dual layer and as many other types as poss. I bought one for my neices laptop that lacked one and was impressed ,uses two usb ports but about £15 which is nice Try this first https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed The try cleaning dvd lense with cleaning disk then ensure dvds are clean especially on edge tracks then buy new dvd if that fails they are cheap enough not to get to involved ,if you can copy to a cd or dvd is another test Edited September 7, 2017 by chesters1 Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle Mathew 4:19 Grangers law : anything i say will turn out the opposite or not happen at all! Sportsman 350
Thanks again. I have ordered a PCIe usb3 card and will get a USB3 external optical drive. That should work.
