Well I suppose it might make the marzipan taste marginally less vile...

I see you have the same respect for marzipan as I have. Just out of curiosity do you like almonds? I can eat the nuts but cannot abide marzipan.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

For curing acne no but there is evidence in the side effects of antibiotics

"There's some evidence that probiotics may be helpful in some cases, such as helping prevent diarrhoea when taking antibiotics, and helping to ease some symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)"

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/probiotics/

Even a small effect is better than no effect ,i am rather doubtful of probiotic capsules though ,i asked a large ebay retailer if the contained cultures were living ? I got no answer yet describing their wares as viable CFU ,corpses only are viable as corpses

I had 2 chest infection over christmas which entailed antibiotics and having a lifetime of gut problems those yoghurts do help whether it was a placebo effect i dont care as the "end" result was better than without

PS nice to see your still about i thought those somalis had beheaded you in some petty neighbourhood squabble

Bugger on reflection was it a chest infection or a pre warning warning of last thursday?

Did you read all of that NHS link, all the way to the bottom?

Issues to be aware of

If you're considering trying probiotics, there are a few issues you need to be aware of.

Probiotics are generally classed as food rather than medicine, which means they don't go through the rigorous testing medicines do.

Because of the way probiotics are regulated, we can't always be sure that:

  • the product actually contains the bacteria stated on the food label
  • the product contains enough bacteria to have an effect
  • the bacteria are able to survive long enough to reach your gut

There are many different types of probiotics that may have different effects on the body, and little is known about which types are best.

You may find a particular type of probiotic helps with one problem. But this doesn't mean it'll help other problems, or that other types of probiotic will work just as well.

And there's likely to be a huge difference between the pharmaceutical-grade probiotics that show promise in clinical trials and the yoghurts and supplements sold in shops.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

I would think trading standards would be getting out a big stick if the claims were untrue but ofcourse what is "scientifically proved" ,its like stating domestos kills 99% of all known germs and they forget to mention its neat bleach left on for 6 months in a petri dish

https://www.yakult.co.uk/about-yakult/what-is-yakult

Any "scientific proof' is questionable unless you see the criteria its based on ,the source of funding and EVERY bit of data in raw form thats used to get it

Sodium hypochlorite kills nearly all bacteria and viruses on contact. It does not take six months.

Is that nearly 99% ? If you miss a bit how long is the bleach viable on say a plate to stop it growing back ,theres lots of unknowns in every statement

What strenght is the bleach etc

If ofcourse the germs are 100% the ones it cannot kill then the death rate is reversed lol perhaps my plate is full of unknown germs it states it only kills known ones

Whoops forgot the other one

Those old 'proved scientifically' statements again without the links to where it is

Pretty small numbers in reality but drinking enough to refil the gut would probaby GIVE you diarrhoea!
