There was an article in one of the angling mags about a boat that landed a huge tuna off the Irish coast, I seem to remember that the charter skipper spent a lot of money equipping his boat to hunt Tuna and never saw another Elton so who knows. If people are going to tag and release then jolly good, all for it, but they have to do the catch bit first. 1 Want to buy a berleybomb? email sales( remove brackets@)berleybomb.com "My imaginary friend doesn't like your imaginary friend is no basis for armed conflict...." Elton 172
You're right, as well as the occasional dead ones, there have been a number of reported accidental hook-ups. It would take quite a dedicated skipper and crew to target them specifically, I'd have thought, but there are bound to be a few out there who are fed up of pulling cod and bass over the sides day after day. Well OK the Elton, let’s make a deal, how about a fortnights fishing during the mackerel run off the back of the Wight, no point in high speed trolling with lures from your boat I think! So we can stick to live baits. If we catch a nice specimen perhaps worth as much as £1,000,000 you can drop me off and I will take the fish off to be ummmm, tagged, yes that’s it I shall get it tagged and then release it. 1 Want to buy a berleybomb? email sales( remove brackets@)berleybomb.com "My imaginary friend doesn't like your imaginary friend is no basis for armed conflict...." Day after day? You're obviously not talking about the Solent area. I haven't caught a cod in 5 years fishing for them. The area is trawled and netted to death. http://www.seaanglingnews.co.uk
