Try the Daiwa SLXV, OR SLVX, I can't be bothered to go and look, a far superior reel to the SLOSH 30 or 20, same design but much improved. :P

i have a sl30sh which i use for shore fishing...not that i do much of that these days.

my favourite boat rod i use is a northwestern carbon kevlar 12lb class, this rod balances perfectly with a 6500 sized reel.

i used to have a 6500c4 but it was stolen out my garage by a tradesman building my patio door steps, can't prove it was him as i didn't notice it was missing for a week or so but it was unscrewed off the rod butt, i am also missing a 7500ct but it was a few months after he had been at the house that i noticed it was gone

Unbearable, isn't it? The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends. There is a secret song at the center of the world, and its sound is like razors through flesh.

Update - the jumping out of gear problem became significantly worse on saturday, so I stripped it last night. As I suspected, the hole in the right hand sideplate for the thumb-bar pin had been letting seawater into the RH sideplate. There was a major buildup of crap around the freespool mechanism, along with plenty of pitting. Why do ABU insist on using dissimilar metals in the area most prone to water ingress? There was also a good collection of grease on the plastic bar carrying the pinion gear. I suspect a combination of this grease and the salt/grease mush was stopping the pinion gear bar from sliding on it's supporting posts and re-engaging properly. I will let you know the results next time I use it.

On another note, what other quality small reels with a decent drag are sealed against water ingress, ie. no push button freespool? And does anyone want a 1 year old ABU 6600C3 LD....?
