No its not, dont mind picking up a belkin N, if you think it will help.

Will i have to replace the g+ dongles if i do?

Don't go spending any money yet, and no you won't need to change your dongles if you do get another router. I really would like to know what model your router is though. I'll take a pic of mine to show you where you can find it and post it tomorrow. I can't get to my router at the moment because it is in a bedroom and the occupant is asleep.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Oh just spoke to Belkin, i load their trucks back from Spain, Germany, France ETC.

They are not too busy at the moment, have stood 4 trucks down. I said i'll nip down to

PC world and buy a new 'N' router, he said if i want one he will send me one :D

Did not work dooh.gif

Must be getting close, got the msn.com home page open, but would not navigate any further.

Just a thought, in Local area connections status i have

IPv4 as Internet.

IPv6 Limited.

in details, IPv4 has an IP address, Subnet Mask, Default gateway, dhcp server and dns server completed.

IPv6 has just an address and Default gateway and DNSserver are blank

Liam mentioned earlier about deleting IPv6, would that be worth it and how would i go about it?

Cheers chaps

:D

If this is from your working PC N4lly then you are missing your wireless adaptor for your non-working pc.

Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :

Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid

WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : Belkin

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

DHCPv6 IAID . . . . . . . . . . . : 151044264

DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled

Sometimes IPv6 on Vista does give a bit of grief. Don't delete it- just go to the properties of the adaptor you are using and untick the box if you are sure your ISP isn't using it.

I bet once you get the dongle properly installed all you have to do is set it to automatic and you'll be up and running.

Then download a bootable disk for ubuntu and install it in place of vista. :)

Sorry to tread Cory. It's also worth pointing out that in the output from :Game shown here:

Windows IP Configuration

Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid

IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.5(Preferred)

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0

Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : 17 November 2008 17:51:54

Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : 17 November 2009 17:51:54

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled

that the router is working properly as it has given the local wired adaptor an address from its DHCP pool. I would untick IPv6 in the properties for that adaptor. Also it won't hurt to change the DNS servers on the adaptors to 212.139.132.27 primary and 212.139.132.26 secondary as already suggested.

To do this you would have to use the same ip address and subnet mask but tick > from obtain an ip address automatically to > use this ip address.
