Recommended Posts

just to add...having had a very quick shufty at the prev posts

if one computer can connect to the internet thru the router thru the cable

(not wirelessly coz it could be picking up a neighbours)

then the routers ok

on the pc mebbe try start run cmd

and type in netsh int ip reset liam

if it generates an error do a a system restore to a date when it works

try arp -d

try lspfix - http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm (the .exe one)

...that's enough for now !!!

also removing ivp6 can help

(I know it shouldn't make any odds, but sometimes it does !)

Cory, thats from the working machine.......
I need to know what it says from the machine that is not working mate. Can you see the router interface and ping anglersnet from that one?

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Bad computer pings anglernet at average 135 ms with ethenet cable, does not ping wireless.

Thanks for the help chaps, we will get there in the end

Re cap, all other machine's in the house have excellent connectivity.

It has been suggested to me if i remove the network device and then restart

the computer will re-install and auto config / fix

N4lly,

just an idea?!?

...coz you have full internet acces thru the cable, (when attched to the router)

...why not let peeps remote fix it?

3 min to fix,

.....or 3 days to talk about possible solutions.

ok, try a system restore to a month ago first & see if it works...bet it will

Another option for peeps you trust...

....just a pointer for your mates

http://www.flipping-computers.co.uk/n4lly.html

after doing what it says on the tin ....

... log into hotmail with

n4lly@hotmail.co.uk

password cavalier

then when all is ok ,

delete "logmein" from add/remove progs from comtrol panel

Excellent idea.

Remote fix would be great, but MSN dont connect :P

I put 192.168.2.1 in to the browser the Belkin router setup page came up

and was able to login also

Should there be any thing in Internet Options/Connections, this all seems to be blank.

Do not know my way around Vista, all other machines are XP, otherwise i would copy

their settings.....getting confused now

LOL,

N4lly,

mebbe try the link in my post....you don't need msn to work for a remote fix.

....or, in control panel, administive tools, services, set them all to automatic & reboot.

That'll fix it!

oh & when you're in the 192.168.2.1 thinh make a note of the encryption

eg wpa-psk, tkip, & passphrase

Good, that means that TCP/IP is working. So your network card is also working, and so is it's driver, and Vista.

Now I want you to open a dos box then ping www.anglersnet.co.uk and PASTE the output here

Follow the directions below

In the DOS box enter 'ping www.anglersnet.co.uk > output.txt' without the quotes.

This tells the OS to run the ping www.anglersnet.co.uk command , but not to put the output on the screen, redirect the output to a file named output.txt.

Nothing will appear to happen on the screen. When the prompt comes back type in notepad output.txt

Paste the contents of notepad in your post.

Tks

Cory
