Ron Thompson Beach Shelter

I took one look at H.A.'s picture and my first thought were "He's been very busy with his bucket  A great tool on a static mark not a bit of use on a surf beach though  where mobility is the key to keeping dry

Often thought of one for use on the Mumbles Pier or on one of the many harbour walls that I frequent now days but how would you secure it then?

Mine has loops for attaching guys, that can be pegged into soft ground.

On piers, you could use these to tie it down to fixtures, or heavy objects (like carrier bags full of stones in some circumstances).

These rt beach buddies are a good piece of kit.I have had mine for 3 years and it has survived and protected me in some horrendous winds and downpours!!

A tip for using on piers/breakwaters :- Take along a few smallish buckets and a lenght of cord (dropnet rope if you use one!) fill the buckets with water then the shelter can be anchored down to these as well as guyed to the railings.I have done this numerous times on all night sessions on mumbles pier in swansea. The wind will come through the bottom a little but you have protection from the elements,a real home from home and a godsend on a 12 hour allnighter!!

i have an original holden beach buddy now ,but i wondered why they have little detachable feet on them?

hopefully the new version folds us smaller 6ft long with a bend is hard to get in your bag :D

i may chesterise it and fit a join half way up so it folds smaller

the feet are a mystery if you remove them the shelter will be shorter perhaps for erecting on hard ground but if there fitted and pushed into sand or gravel theres a chance you leave one behind as they are just held in place with a butterfly nut
