Hiya,

I have aquired a 30lb class old Abu boat rod, now I want another one :)

It's a 7' grey hollow fiberglass blank with a tip and butt double aftco roller.

Anyone remember the model name ?????

Hiya,

I'm not sure, I know the beach rods were the Atlantic series but I'm not sure if the boat rods were also the same series.

I want another one because a certain lady has took a shine to it, so you can bet yer boots once I re ring it she'll nab it for herself :( Hence the reason I want another :D:D

I've had an Abba Conolon 800 (30lbs) Pacific 830 (914154) fer 'yonks'.

The best rod I've ever had for 'pirking' .....

very 'steely'.

The name is pretty clear on the tip section above a diamond wrap.

Hiya Ada,

Sadly the sticker with the name has all but been worn away so it don't help :)

Has your one got a roller tip, hard chrome intermediates and a AFTCO double roller as the first eye?

Norrie.. the original owner also said it was a 50lb class :P

ABU did make a range of glass Atlantic boat rods at 6'6" although I dont recall whether they had AFTCOs. It might be worth an email to ABU via their website, they are usually pretty helpful in IDing odd bits of kit.

Hi Davy, I hope you liked the write up. The rod is a Pacific 630, it's rated as a 30-50 class. As well as the Aftco rollers it should have hard chrome intermediates. They were the dogs wotsits when they came out so I bought one, I liked it so much I bought a second one. Funny though, one says IGFA 30 on the label, the others says IGFA 30-50. Lots of better rods on the market now but they are still good rods, I use mine when I have a fun day out pleasure fishing. :)

Hiya,

Yup that's the one Norm, if you get fed up with it or the Oceanic let me know :):)

The write up was good, considering it's a Southern paper

btw the fault with the engine was the heater plug cable, where it connects to the engine. The nut had slackened enough to break the connection on the plugs hence the problem starting :)
