i used to have one of these rods years ago, the 30lb version, i never particularly like it and i was glad when it got shut in the car door and lost 6" off the tip.....it gave me the excuse to my wife i needed a new rod ;o)

though i can't remember what i bought, it must have been worse...lol

Unbearable, isn't it? The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends. There is a secret song at the center of the world, and its sound is like razors through flesh.

Davy Holt:

Hiya,

Yup that's the one Norm, if you get fed up with it or the Oceanic let me know :):)

The write up was good, considering it's a Southern paper

btw the fault with the engine was the heater plug cable, where it connects to the engine. The nut had slackened enough to break the connection on the plugs hence the problem starting :)

Glad you liked it. It's only a southern paper because nobody north of the border sends anything in since Greg moved and I can't get any Scottish businesses to pay for adverts. That's not quite true, Tackle & Guns of Glasgow are in the TSD so they get papers and C.J. Patterson of Kirkwall, Orkney are too. Norrie does a good job of delivering them for the benefit of our northern cousins. Glad you got the engine sorted too.

I still think Alan in Holland should be able to find a Sportex blank to bring over.

He just wants reminding now and again!

Now you've got to find a UK dealer to give you a good deal.

As the prices are in £'s, they must be expecting customers over here.

Weymouth Angling Centre are listed by them.

Spasor might be able to organise something from this end if you can't get anything closer.

The prices look right!

The 80lb class stand up should be a good rod as long as you use a decent reel fitting and the Aftco rollers, braid or otherwise. Or if you prefer a longer rod the normal 80lb class. I've got the 50lb class and I've had conger of over 70lb and sharks of over 200lb on it.

I'm pretty sure that Sportex have stopped making glass blanks.

Prices on Conoflex website are trade and difficult to get if you are not 'trade'.

Bait and Tackle centre in Southend is an excellent and reliable supplier (in my experience) of Conoflex blanks.

Don't worry if the blank you want is not listed on the site - they can get them all.
