The Northamptonshire Canal Partnership, working with the Northampton Nene Angling Club, is holding a FREE Angling event for youngsters. This exciting event is being held on Saturday 17th June 2006, meeting at Banbury Lane on the Northampton Arm of the canal, near Swan Valley at 10am.

To join in, anglers must be aged over 6 and each child must be accompanied by an adult. The highly experienced anglers of Northampton Nene Angling club will be on hand to supervise and guide the youngsters, with the aim that every person who has a go will catch a fish! They will be providing all of the equipment free of charge, however should any youngster already own their own equipment they are more than welcome to bring it along.

Jo Neill, Northamptonshire Canal Partnership Co-ordinator said: “This is an excellent opportunity for youngsters to have a go at one of the UK’s most popular sports. No previous experience is necessary and members of the Angling Club will be supervising the youngsters and providing hints on how to catch those fish. It should be a really fun morning”.

The Banbury Lane section of the canal is one of the best fishing spots along this section of the canal. For those wanting more information or specific directions please contact Jo Neill on 01908 302 506.

In addition to holding community events on and along the canal, the Northamptonshire Canal Partnership (a partnership between British Waterways and three of the local councils) is also involved in several very exciting projects including the design of the art work for the new Pineham Bridge in Northampton and creating a walks leaflet for the Northampton Arm of the canal.
