With extra colour in the water following the recent rain, there were good weights of small fish throughout, though the bream shoals that have shown in previous qualifiers were notable by their absence. Top place on the day was taken by Evesham regular Steve Ashmore. Drawn on peg seven, Steve started his match on the feeder, taking a few small perch and eels. Throughout the coarse of the day, Steve loosefed hemp on a long pole swim, and at the start of the last hour, decided to give it a try.

The response was instant, and 18 quality roach up to 1lb in weight came to the net, giving Steve a 10-11-0 total.

In second place was ever consistent Quorn rod Tony Marshall. Drawn on peg 37, Tony fished a small maggot feeder halfway across the river, catching small perch and the occasional better eel for a 9-2-0 net.

Pete Morris weighed  in 8-6-0 for third place, which again consisted of hemp roach caught late on in the match.

With the water having cleared slightly from the previous days qualifier, many anglers decided to target the venues roach stocks. Ian Shepherd was one such rod, and his move paid off in style as he banked 70 good sized roach on hempseed. Drawn on peg 35, Ian started his match on maggot feeder, but after an hour he had only a few small perch to show for his efforts. With this in mind, he decided to have an early look on his hemp line, and a good sized fish came to the net straight away! Ian never looked back after this, and caught for the duration of the match, taking all his fish from one line just seven metres out from the bank.

Tony Marshall made it two second placings in as many days, with a fine 18-2-0 net of roach. Like the winner, Tony pinned his faith in hempseed and caught quality fish for the last half of the match.

Third placed Paul Norledge again caught his weight on hempseed, but this time from peg one, at the top end of the Crown Meadow.
