Surrey angler Mark Tullet won the latest PartyPoker.com Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier fished on Saturday 2nd May 2009, with 96lb of Carp. A member of Surrey Starlets and an engineer by profession, Marks biggest Carp was 6lb. He drew permanent peg “Tanners 18” and fished the long pole to his left into a corner and baited up with Andy Blue 8mm pellets. Mark lost a few fish on the day as did most anglers.
The conditions on the day were ideal. It was dry and sunny with a ripple on the water and the result was a close run thing. All through the day the predictions were changing from one peg to another and up to the final whistle it could have gone either way between 7 anglers only separated by 4 or 5 fish and it was not until the weigh-in that it was decided.
Close behind Paul was Property Developer Marc Jones from Horbury who took 3rd Place netting 82.05 lb of Carp from permanent peg “Tanners 36”, bomb and pellet waggler were Marc’s favoured method.
Forth place with a weight of 80.04 lb went to Chris Davis from Yate in Somerset. And in 5th Place with a weight of 79.06 lb was Kelvin Boddy who had made the long journey down from Scunthorpe.
The next qualifier will be held at Maver Larford, near Stourport, Worcestershire on Saturday 9th May.
