News release from Countryman Fairs

The very first Lowther Country Fair took place within the stunning grounds of Lowther Castle at the weekend, with Countryman Fairs’ newest event welcoming an astonishing 22,000 visitors through its gates to experience the very best our countryside has to offer.

This year’s most anticipated event has had an incredible response from both locals and visitors from up and down the country, with sports enthusiasts and families enjoying everything from traditional field sports to have-a-go activities and family entertainment. This year’s newest event has also hosted another set of qualifying rounds in many sporting disciplines. From the Mitsubishi Motors World Series Clay Shooting and Gundog Championships, to the Terrier and Lurcher Champion of Champions and the ATEO Junior Airgun Championships, the weekend has put through more sets of qualifiers who will take part at the prestigious Midland Game Fair’s Grand Final this September.

Whilst the week leading up to the event bought with it some unsettled weather, the weekend remained mostly dry with people undeterred by the reports and attending fully prepared to enjoy what the weekend had in store. With the added surprise of Sunday’s glorious sunshine too, those attending were able to kick back and enjoy the spectacular displays in the Main Arena, sitting on the bank to watch various acts such as The Knights of Middle England and The Vale of Lune Harriers, a truly fabulous sight to behold!

Countryman Fairs’ Chief Executive, Ian Harford, expresses his delight at bringing life back to the Lowther showground. “We are so pleased to have been able to bring the Lowther Country Fair back to the grounds of Lowther Castle. Speaking with many of you across the weekend, it is clear that Lowther’s return is most welcomed with both visitors and traders embracing its new look and feel and getting involved in all kinds of countryside demonstrations and activities. With Lowther now over for this year, and with only one more event to go for this season, we can’t wait to build on what we’ve created so far and look forward to producing the finest set of countryside attractions in the UK… and we welcome you all to be a part of it!”

The Midland Game Fair takes place over 17th& 18th September 2011. For your chance to buy discounted tickets to this year’s event, you can call in advance on 0845 230 5175.
